Homemade fondant on the outside. They do have buttercream icing under it for those who don’t care for fondant.
Buttercream or cream cheese icing won’t mold or hold its shape good or long enough for these type of cakes.

Out of curiosity, What is the ballpark price on a cake like that? They are works of art.

10 hours at a minimum, our biggest order took over 80 hours.
