Douthit Herefords is a famous cattle ranch and row crop farm situated in NW Kansas. Cheyenne County is in the NW corner of the state and borders Colorado and Nebraska. Republican River runs through part of the ranch. Landscape is mix of sorghum, corn, alfalfa, pasture, and timber along the river. World-class whitetails and muleys. Excellent turkey and pheasant hunting. The ranch has been owned by the same family since the 1930s. Our lease is limited to 8 total members. Six can be archery and 4 can be muzzleloader or rifle. I anticipate two openings due to members moving away with their jobs.
Dues are $5K per person and includes year round use of the furnished ranch house. The candidate chosen to fill the member slot pays a $500 deposit now and the balance after draw results are confirmed. Draw rate is roughly 83% in Unit 1. You can expect to draw 8 out of 10 years. Another option is to join on the "every other year" program, since Kansas regs allow non-residents to buy a preference point this year and be guaranteed a tag next year. In that scenario, you would pay dues every other year.
