Lanier - Some Good Ones!

"I went fishing" with Kevin and April...a Wisconsin Badger couple

Kevin has been fishing with me a few times but today, it was all about getting April her first Lanier spotted bass.

April and I got on the front deck to start so I could teach her how to fish the drop shot....dang, didn't take long and April boats a solid spot!

The day was a little slow but the fish we caught were some good ones. We worked the drop shot and a spoon deep on channel ledges and ditches...all but one fish came out of 45' of water....as the day went on, we boated a good spot in 25'.

I didn't see the big schools today...most seemed to be locked down on the bottom - so we went down and got them. Blue Lily and LJ's Obsession did the damage on the drop shot while our 1/2oz spoon picked up a couple that I saw suspended (which were very few).

Ended the day with 10 in the boat and had a few more on that we lost....one was a big spot that I had next to the boat that somehow spit my spoon right back at me.

Great fun...and talk about trash talking...both were good but got to give the nod to April...she could talk some smack

Started out cold...then warmed up fast. I love this time of year through the end of February.
