Lanier report. Precision trolling only produced a couple of spotted bass for me today. Been thinking I needed to bring a casting rod with a Super Spook for the topwater action I've been seeing, but I didn't. Get back to the dock and a guy pulling in had caught 5 on topwater with Spooks. Yep. My two spots trolling were split between an Xrap splashed orange and a Michigan Stinger spoon.
Beautiful day. Marked the thermocline at 27 feet deep, up considerably from the 35 feet last time I marked it clearly with sonar in August. Once it gets to 20 feet, the trolling should get better, and also more fish will move back into the creek backs. Marked lots of fish and bait 20-40 feet deep in 50-70 feet of water. Usually pulling the lure spread through works, but slow today. Too much moon maybe.
