Lanier Trolling Report 15 Oct and Weekend Outlook

Trolled for a few hours yesterday PM. Caught the bass trolling the Whopper Plopper at 3:30 PM and two other bass trolling deep by 4:30. Thought it might be a great afternoon, but things turned off after that. Still lots of fish relating to the thermocline at 37 feet deep. Saw lots and lots of bait on the Lowrance and on top above FC7. But very few predators getting after the action on top.

But with the wind, rain, and cooler temps, the upper layers should be cooler and much more oxygenated by the weekend. I expect the lake to be in a very positive fall fishing pattern from this weekend until surface temps drop below 60 deg F. There should be a lot more fish in the top 20 feet making them more accessible to a wider variety of fishing techniques, including topwater.

Lots of rain forecast Sat, but nice windows for fishing Fri and Sun.
