Lies and renewed minds

We sometimes make the mistake that when a distortion of truth comes into our thoughts (a lie, temptation), we often think that because it roams around for a while that it must have "some" truth to it, even if we can rightly divide it, truth from error.
"The enemy comes like a flood, but the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him" That standard is Christ living within the heart of every believer. The power of sin may accuse us but our God is not in the shame department; Rom 8:1, "There is therefore now NO condemnation for those who are IN Christ Jesus (emphasis mine).
We can choose to believe the truth of who God has made us in Christ,
or we can be overly occupied with our christian performance and take our eyes off the One who performed perfectly well on our behalf.
The choice is ours, and it's a big one. Lies against our identity will come like darts, shaming us back into the "try harder" mantras of the day. They provide us no rest, just beckon us to behavioral perfection ... something both impossible and never the reason our Lord came for us. He came to bring us back to UNION with Abba Father, and all those nasty naysayers can get the boot - and our hearts and minds can breathe fresh in the knowing that He will never leave nor forsake us.

So ... take those accusations to the cross, beloved!
