Sunday afternoon around 3:00. Hit a big white oak near the house, no thunder heard it was that close. Took out the well pump and the internet. It will be Thursday before the well is replaced, glad we live on the river so I get water for the toilets!

Loosing a mature white oak is bad. That tree was probably 75+ years old.

Probably 60 feet, the power is underground closer than that though.

Lightning is some mean stuff and will kill ya faster than you can blink. Glad all it got was a tree, the well pump and the internet.

Found bark 30 feet from the tree, when it hit sounded like someone blew up a big block of tanerite. Thanks to Murphy well our new pump is in and we have water.
