List of potential bow woods

How does dogwood rate? I know many early golf clubs were made from it?
I like dogwood, made a couple from it. It is similar to hickory, but doesn't seem to suck up moisture as bad. It heat-bends and heat-tempers well, too. Plus it often has a nice pink-colored wood that polishes up good. The hardest part is finding a piece of dogwood straight and clear enough for a selfbow.

Kawaliga

Gone but not forgotten
I really like Elm, trouble is, it's hard to split. The last couple of trees, I made into staves with a band saw. After it's in stave form, it's an easy wood to work down, in my opinion. Makes a beautiful bow.

Yes. Elm is far and above better than hickory, IMO. But it can be tough to split.
