LL BEAN rod reel question/advice

Good afternoon. Looking for little advice. Friend of mine want to sell me his fly rod outfit. 7 weight. The rod and reel are the LLBean Orion model. A little online research suggests that the rod was made by G Loomis. This is a 4 piece rod btw. They are both basically new and never fished. Believe he told me he paid $800 or so for it at the llbean store in Freeport Maine. Bet I can get the outfit plus a few flies for $350. Dont know anything really about these. Worth it?

Sounds like a good deal, IF you need a 7Wt outfit.

7 wt is good for most freshwater fishing. I have an ancient 7 wt. Mitchell that I bought at Grant's maybe 40 years ago. It's still fine. The last big fish I caught with it was a 25 lb. grass carp. It took 72 minutes to bring it in....
