Mainly water trapping this year

Due to weather and beaver work I’ve spent most of this season in the water. Only ran land traps one week and I think I caught very dog in the county. They were all released unharmed. Enjoy the beaver journey.E48BBAA5-CEBE-40B4-8331-CF3E0E77868A.jpeg8F5ACC31-C36B-4009-BFA7-E142B65DA995.jpeg28A5D87E-0331-483C-ACA7-BA61BC590616.jpeg87E59A41-81A5-40DB-99D2-8A02BC905690.jpeg5BBD841B-2A55-406E-98EE-C39C49D7BBD7.jpeg0C3A1545-095C-443E-8A3E-589F3C99B5BD.jpeg52B5B648-A518-4E67-8436-F284FAD0B22F.jpegBAC5F1E4-61E9-4E16-9792-C3E66738FE58.jpegEC548660-40F7-4F0D-B4B8-951D34BBB8D5.jpegAA92D8A4-BA5B-4360-8071-93D4C3E53483.jpeg

I was wondering if anybody was water trapping! Thanks for the pictures. Like seeing those castors drying. Caught a beaver yesterday. Needed one for a class on Friday for Lee County seventh graders. They just can't resist castor.
You don't see much about this, but fresh castors will last for years and years dropped in a jar ( I use a plastic p-nut butter jar) with no preservative. Just add water at the site, shake or stir and pour on your your fake mound. I've got a jar that's probably 15+ years old. Many, many beavers and otters to its credit.
Kids in classes say castor smells like new tires!

I’ve done that in a pinch with a milk jug. With the price of castor right now everything is getting dried and sold. I teach a trapping class at church once a year for the boys. They love seeing the tanned fur and traps and stuff.

Hope this is the last one from this place. I moved a few traps to den entrances under water to make sure. Went ahead and started a new place today. A98A1F26-5AE5-4E9A-8F5F-6DBAF6ED7F6D.jpeg

Getting it done!
I wouldn’t even know where to begin on water trapping. I have a hard enough time catching critters on land, lol!

In my opinion, set wise, water trapping is easier. You don’t have to worry about scent and the sets are a little more forgiving. The bad part about water trapping is you can’t drive up to every set. Carrying 40 and 50 lbs beaver can get rough. Lol.

I posted this in Georgia trapping but figured I’d post it here as well. I don’t have any H stands. This setup though has worked very well for den and hut entrances in deep water. I set this up on dry land for picture purposes as I was pulling traps from a property I finished up today. Figured this might help some of the new trappers. 4618CD88-75CC-46B2-8B01-DA46CFC3848D.jpeg
