Best way is to get a DRUM DEHEADER.
McMaster Carr has them for $59.12
Home Depot and Lowes may have them also
I have one you could borrow but it is in McDonough.

Used a jigsaw before with a metal cutting blade.

Just be careful and make sure they don't have any flammable liquids or vapors still inside.

BOOM! :hair:

Air chisel with cutter bit or a good Sawsall.

Metal cutting blades are expensive.

Might could buy a head cutter for the same money.

A drum deheader works like a charm and does not leave a sharp edge. It actually bends the cut edge down against the top ring of
the barrel.
Make sure the bung hole is removed to let any vapors escape before cutting. Even a drum deheader can create a spark.
I have taken the top from a bunch of drums.
