The original M-990i was then transformed into the M-990i Gen 2 but both have been discontinued.

I think the closest camera in the moultrie line would be the m8000 camera. I still have my 990i's and have only gotten a new panoramic and an A-35 I lately. I've liked both of those cameras as well

A few days ago they had the M999i marked down to 69 dollars on their site. But, I think it's sold out now. The M990i, 999i, and S50i all had viewing screens. Although it's nice, it's something to cause an issue.

The M-40i can still be purchased and it is similar to the older 990i but better. The M40i has a faster trigger speed and further detection zone than the 990i. Rodgers sporting goods has a good price on the M40i's right now. Just google them up online.
