Well I can scratch that off the bucket list....

Caught my first 'snowy grouper' in about 300' of water
. Botton was thick with them and because you were only supposed to keep 1 per vessel ...we kept moving around trying to find some gag grouper but no luck just kept catching more snowy and some huge red porgy.

Seas were dead calm-- water that awesome shade of blue I rarely see--- Friends catamaran handled great in the run to R5 navy tower for bait and then went to R4 Navy tower- both were covered in cuda, we got some baits but lots of sabiki cut offs- went deeper and fished some natural bottom ledges.

3 of us caught about 7 Snowy Grouper and 3 Red Porgy,,, I am eating good tonight4.jpg

Here is the Captain catching bait at R5

Yes I think they have big eyes and they got bigger. Some also had bulging swim bladders. Bill had a great release device. It was a heavy weight with a lip grip device that released at depth,, So it pulled the fish down and released him when the pressure normalized.
