Ok right off the bat nope ain't got to pull the trigger after 5 days, heck ain't even seen a buck let alone one with atleast 3 pts on one side to be legal. But that's not to say it hasn't been interesting.

1st off my Jim Thompson imatation and yes I'm wearing boots not even Jim could wander in this country with just FLIP FLOPS on (sorry Jim just had to say it ::ke::rofl:) 100_1570 (1024x768).jpg

I'm headed home the other day and as I pass our local taxidermy lady's place I see horns so got to backup and check it out. Turns out I'd met this guy 15 yrs ago out duck hunting and invited him to sit down and hunt with me. He was just a kid back then. One of the paddles broke off but the gal said it would be an easy fix, it's laying on the table behind him. 100_1579 (1024x768).jpg

Talk about being teased.............. set the alarm for 4:30 but about 4:15 woke up and had to wiz, shut the alarm off went to the bathroom and when I got back upstairs decided I needed a day off so went to bed didn't even wake back up till 7 guess I was more worn out then I thought. Made a trip to the store later and when I backed into the yard spotted these just standing in the yard at less 50 yrds and wouldn't ya know the fawns a buck but kind of hard to see 3 pts on one side but what the heck had the Kodak so shot him anyways:biggrin2:

Well looks like I got WHOOPED again this year hopin to get my 1st Muley buck with the Hawkins. I've had this ole Hawkins for over 40 yrs and got Whitetail bucks and does, elk bulls and cows and a couple of Muley does but never a Muley buck. We have a late season in late Nov. but it's only for Whitetails (buck 3pt oneside or a doe) so it looks like I'll have to wait till next year to try again.

Sat. I saw over 2 dozen does and fawns but not a buck to be found and Sun only saw 3 whitetail does. Elk opened on Sat. but only found poop and that was pretty old. There are Elk in the area but they are scattered and only in small herds less the 20 most of the time. Got a few days left for them but pretty much spend my gas budget so may have to wait till the late Nov season. to try again. Till then starting Sat ducks and geese open so I'll finally get Chase off my back for having to stay home. Poor guy just don't understand how dad can dress up in camo, grab a gun then leave him home. Good part got good water in my small ponds and seeing good numbers of duck and a few geese so far.
