New and Old

Here's an interesting pic from the old archives, a heat treated Safety Harbor and a Tallahassee. The Tallahassee is one of the first 20 points I ever found and was shellacked about 40 years ago. It has the smallest ground base I've ever seen. The grinding on the sides literally stops at the arch of the base. This is a great example of what many points are supposed to be. Microscopic evidence shows the sides of this point were used for cutting and the tip of the point was used for punching into soft objects like leather. This was a Native America pocket knife. The colorful Safety Harbor just happened to be in the pic but has great color.
