The 1st thing that struck me was THAT IS A HUGE DEER! The 2nd thing I thought about how SMART that devil must have been to elude hunters and dogs long enough to grow a rack like that!

Good gracious that is one heck of a buck! :speechles
I'd sure like to see him in person.

========================================
Who's gonna break the news to LAKOTA that his dream buck has been killed?
True, that is definately a "Dream buck" for me.

BUT, to clear up the confusion ... As I stated in the topic I started in Dec. about this buck (along with the picture), I honestly had no idea what county the picture was taken in, nor did I know the owner of the picture. That is why the topic title was "Anyone recognize the pic". I figured it would bring the story here, to Woody's forums, when/if the brute was taken. As you can see, it worked.

I just wanted to let ya'll know that I'm not slipping around checking everybodys trailcameras. And I don't have wireless transmitters for transfering pics from other trailcamers to my computer ! :D

Hey Bugman,

Is it true that Butch was a new member that had just joined the club this yr.? Not to doubt his abilities as a highly skilled hunter, but if that's true, that's the definition of "begginers luck" on a new lease!

I hope they don't throw him out for killing "the boss-buck" the first yr he joined! ;)

I KNOW HE HUNTED WITH THE SAME CLUB LAST YEAR. WE HAVE A LEASE IN THE SAME COUNTY & THEIR PROPERTY JOINS OURS, HOWEVER THAT CLUB IS THE LARGEST LEASER IN THE AREA.BUTCH STATED THIS WEEKEND THAT THE DEER WAS APPOX. 6mi. FROM OUR PROPERTY.I WAS HOPEING THAT WE MIGHT FIGURE OUT DISTANCE HE HAD TRAVELED SINCE THE PICS WERE TAKEN.BUTCH HAS HUNTED MANY YEARS IN THE MARION, SCHELY, STEWART REGION & HAS KILLED SEVERAL GOOD DEER. GON, HAS CONTACTED & A FEATURE IS IN THE WORKS. THANX BUGMAN :type:

I believe the Ft. Valley Plantation is in Buena Vista. Didn't they take the fences down last year? That very well may have been a buck that was eating good on the Plantation.

I guess this means he can position himself in front of the dogs better than anyone. This takes years of dog hunting experience to achieve. :bounce: ::ke:

Just kidding as I'm sure Butch is a great hunter but I just couldn't resist. ;)

Congrats Butch on a mighty fine deer.

definitely shows that any given buck that is shot during the season could normally spend the rest of the year miles away. I read some of the telemetry studies that DNR did on the Dooly bucks and it showed them traveling up to 20 miles I believe.

Call me jealous ) but I hate to see deer like that die in front of dogs. I used to hunt on a dog club in SC and the still hunters rarely shot bucks the size that the dogs would get up. Most bucks that size aren't going to make a mistake this time of year....but dogs will push a monster out into the daylight on any given day.

I'd like to know the number of B&C's that come in during January... LOL

Bandy

Who cares about deductions:confused: Tommy I'm sure when he shot it he wasn't thinking about antler porn like some on here.:p

It would of been much more nobel if a sniper had of shot him.

Thats a HOSS! My compliments to Butch on taking a deer of a lifetime.

OK :( Man I feel better now. :D
Being an antler addict IMO is detrimentable to our heritage. But so is alot other things. So I'm not going to try to change your mind either. Would be a waste of my time. I'm glad you told me I could get over it. I was starting to get backed up. Now I feel super:fine: ::ke: :D
Chris

update: How did I miss this twice? :::: Great Buck!!!!!:)
