New Public Flint River Canoe launch

Not sure if this is new or not but I know I just saw the sign posted this past weekend. The Georgia DNR has built/rebuilt a canoe/kayak launch across the river from the Flint River Outdoors center, right next to the Hwy 36 bridge. It has a slide for your canoe or kayak and new steps down to the water. Access the ramp on the east side of the bridge.

There has been a public put-in/take-out at that spot for as long as I can remember. However, it was a muddy/rocky incline down to the water and they have definitely made it a nicer launch area with the work they've done.

I think its an Ocmulgee launch.

That's great to hear. Previously the launch was rough and steep, basically there wasn't a ramp or access point. The folk at FROC are unfriendly and charge too much to simply launch.

Yes, Wise Creek is off the Ocmulgee. About 2 miles down stream of Smith Shoals.

And that is good news about the hwy36 take out at froc. It sucked for a while
