new to growing sunflowers

Thread starter #1
so I finally bit the bullet bout a electric fence and planted sunflowers instead of all millet in my dove field. I now have half sunflowers and half millet in a 5 acre field. I planted my flowers on april 25th and with all the rain we have had they did great. they all opened up to bloom on 6-24-18 weekend. I fell like this is to early, but I was figuring as long as I didn't mow any strips until end of august it may still be fine. any thoughts or suggestions?

Any seeds that fall will be ate by something. Songbirds in your fields will make the doves feel comfortable and safe. Doves don’t wait till opening day to start feeding so if some seeds fall early it will just make them habitually visit your field.
