what happen to them , can u still go by the banks and buy one ???

Long ago, they use to be available at banks, but when they changed the way they were purchased, I stopped buying them.
Iirc, that was like mid 90's and I gave up at that point. Also, iirc, the change then was you could get them day of purchase, and it changed to order them and wait. I didn't like putting a savings bond iou in family gift cards.
