I have only waterfowl hunted in Maryland with my uncle in the past so I’m use to hunting in saltwater marsh areas. Unfortunately due to job, family and money I can’t make 12 hr trips to hunt all the time and want to hunt close to my home. I’m not looking for anyone’s spot but would like some advise on public land that allows waterfowl hunting within an hour of Walton County. Also because I have only hunted saltwater marshes any advise on what to look for when scouting spots around here? Also I don’t have a boat so I would have to access areas on foot.

Ive killed a few ducks in the Oconee National Forest area. I basically got on google maps and found a kinda large body of water in a swamp and checked it out a couple months before season. Went back the second weekend of the first split and got a limit of woodies and a Wigeon.
There are still some spots at Lake Oconee where you can kill birds if you can beat the crowd there.
