Public land afternoon bird. 4-11-15

Yes. Arrived at this tract at approximately 1:45 pm. Thought I heard a distant gobble set off by a crow. I set up within a 100yds of where I thought the gobble came from.
After not being able to strike nothing I made my way to another ridge and cut on my glass call. I had a hen start cutting back in the bottom so I found a tree and set down, This was around 2:40. All of the sudden he gobbles about 150-200 yds out while me and the hen are talking back and forth. He closes in within 50 yards in just a few minutes gobbling four times total until he reaches the hen. Neither are in sight do to the grade of the hill side/trees. So he shuts up for a few minutes and I figure I'm doomed and I chose to cut again with my mouth call and take a chance with him so close. Next thing I know he comes in from my sharp left strutting, walks behind a large tree and gives me time to bring up my gun and drop him at 30yds. Put my foot on his head and looked at my phone it was 3:02pm
