I picked this 870 up at X3 guns in Loganville. Thought I'd build her into a turkey gun. Had my buddy at Liberty Weaponry coat it in OD green and I installed a Boyds Sterling Thumbhole stock in the nutmeg finish... She's looking FINE. I'll do some research on chokes and see how she patterns before I go crazy and shorten the barrel. I'll probably top her off with some TruGlo clamp on iron sights.

Gonna make you a fine turkey gun. Put some federal heavyweights or TSS through it and you'll be good to go.

I have the youth model without
the thumb-hole. I'm a lefty and me and thumb-holes
don't get along very well.

Bought it to carry for hours rabbit hunting.
Then, figured I would try it on Turkey.

The 870 is the most produced shotgun, of all makes
in the world. There is a reason for that.

I have three. The original 12ga Wingmaster, a beautiful gun
and the mighty express 12 with the 3 1/2" chamber.
along with the little 20 my collection of 870's is complete.

You will love that gun!
Also a very nice looking example to be proud of!

My current turkey gun is an 870 super magnum... Trust me, I'm with you, I wouldn't have any other way! Thank you for the compliments.

You can't see it in the pictures, but there is about a 1/16" gap between the buttstock and the receiver where it just doesn't fully seat. I thought I might be able to take out the bearing plate, but have read that is not recommended for wood stocks. Might have to sand her down a little. Anyone have experience with this? I'm thinking very light sanding/refit in stages until she seats all the way...

Suggestions?
