Report:Fishing Captiva this week

Staying on Captiva this week and plan to do a good bit of surf fishing. Didn't have much time today but I did fish Blind Pass for a little with a silver spoon. I caught 3 redfish and half a dozen ladyfish. I probably lost another dozen ladyfish. The pass was thick with baitfish, and the dang Jellyfish were wearing my legs out. It was like standing in a bed of fire ants.

Thats a great fishing spot even with all of the pressure it gets. Get out there an hour before daylight and throw a rattle trap.

Fished the surf today, Caught a bunch of small jacks and lady fish and half a dozen spanish mixed in. Spoons, jigs, and various bubble rigs all worked. Water is clear and almost no weeds.

I'll probably head back to the pass tonight, and I definitely plan to be there before light in the morning. I'll give the rattle trap a try.

The surf action is pretty steady in the morning. It's mostly ladyfish and small jacks but there are some spanish mixed in. I caught 1 good spanish but most were about this size.

I'm leaving Saturday for Sanibel, looking forward to that place.

Plenty of bait in the surf and the spanish are plentiful in the mornings and evenings.
