RV Park Cherokee

What do you recommend for RV park in NC, (Thinking Cherokee but doesn't matter) that is preferably on river or large stream that can be fished and is heavily stocked. Also want privacy--wooded spacious sites. Would like to be able to actually have site on water so can sit and relax watching and listening to water. Not wanting to go now, but need information to plan ahead. Would be in motor home towing a jeep wrangler.

We have stayed at Happy Holiday in Cherokee and enjoyed it there. The sites are bigger than most other places, and there are trout streams down both sides of the campground. They also have a stocked pond with catfish and bream. A swimming pool for the kids, and they are about 10 minutes from downtown, 5 from the casino.

What Pappy said. You're not going to find an RV park with a lot of privacy, as they're there to make money, and empty land is not making any. :)

There are lots of places for primitive camping on nf land, some have room for a camper, standing Indian is my favorite, it's not stocked, but is full of trout if you know how to trout fish, 2 weeks ago, I caught 22 within sight of the camp, in about an hour. Plenty of hiking, plenty of water to fish, but it's single hook artificial only, with a 4 fish limit, 7 inch minimum size.

yeah but some parks are more generous with the land and don't cut down all the trees. I'm dreaming I realize.

Not an RV park per se, but the national forest campground at Davidson River is fairly close to what you're looking for.

State park would be even better. Hadn't looked for one. I'll for sure check that out.

I've stayed at the KOA and Happy Hollidays in Cherokee. Both are nice and near heavily stocked water but neither are going to give you the seclusion you are looking for. Like Hillbilly said the Davidson River Campground just north of Brevard is more the type of campground you are looking for but you better book it plenty ahead of time. It's probably not going to be as ridiculously stocked as Cherokee but the fishing is good. You've got Avery's Creek, Looking Glass, and the Davidson all running together just above the campground and the hatchery is just a couple miles away too.

Thanks. If leave MH at home and stay in motel or lodge in Cherokee what is suggested.
