Both are very nice!!.
But i like the dark stock most.
I've got a cpl XBolts with the maple stocks and they are nice but I prefer the walnut.

Thanks. I have a pre 64 Featherweight that has a very nice piece of caramel colored walnut with beautiful fiddleback through the entire stock. I'll see if I can find a picture of It

Very Nice!! That's a gorgeous piece of wood!

My pre '64 Featherweight said to be made by the custom shop. I bought it purely for the wood, but it came with a snippit from a target showing sub 1/2" group that I was able to duplicate with 150gr PPs (.270)

I have a military buddy out in Montana takes mule deer with a .257 Roberts year after year. That is a beautiful rifle in the caliber.

Thanks. I bought it for the wood, but also love the cartridge! That is my planned "old man" deer rifle, one with very light recoil. I'm not sure when it will get used yet, but it ain't this year...lol. It shoots very well and I have 120gr NP custom handloads stored away for that day. The recoil stuff still doesn't bother me as of this year, and I'm 65 now. I'll be using a BLR/.450 next month in Maine, with an A-Bolt 12ga brought along as back-up. Last year's Maine bear was done in with a .444P :bounce:

Nice bear! I’m north of you in age and shoot a .308 and 45/70 regularly.
