you don't need an even number as long as everyone participates. just write out a list of the people that want in, numbered 1 - XX... then start with a random number like 6 ... write that persons name next to 1, then the 7th person next to 2. When you reach the end of the list, then start at the top with #1 matching them up.

Then pick a number, say 10.... write the #10 person next to #1 person..
