Snake question

I'm pretty knowledgeable on most critters but snakes are the least I know. Had a 4' oak snake by the house right at dusk. I moved him to my wood shed(so my wife wouldnt move)and got to thinking. This is the latest I've ever seen one. I've never seen one after dark. Copperheads yes more times than I could count but I've never seen any kind of black snakes after dark. So you snake guys..... do they move after dark? Maybe coincidence?

Lot of them are hard to see even in daylight, dusk and dark just make them less visible. Night hunting is best and they don't need a flashlight (couldn't carry it if they did).

This time of the year, most snakes are active at night, dawn, or dusk. High temps during the day keep them inactive.

Black Racers are a diurnal species. Mostly active during the day.

Mole Kingsnakes are the opposite. Mainly nocturnal.

Hawks and Owls are big time Snake Snatchers.
At night the Hawks are roosting and the rats and Frogs are out.
