Have y’all hunted the Piedmont with your dog ? I live close by and have never hunted it before. What’s the hunting like ?

Should be good. Just make sure you pick up a permit. Doesn’t cost anything but if you don’t have it then not having it will cost you.

Also good to have plenty of orange on you and your dog,if you're planning on hunting while deer season's still in.

Thank you for the good advice. It’s my understanding that the Piedmont NWR has two quota hunts. I plan to turn my dog loose after these hunts. Am I reading the regulations incorrectly ?

You can small game hunt when deer hunts are not going on. Looks like according to regulations you can start hunting November 17.

this is correct. There won't be anyone deer hunting to worry about. Big place, hilly, lots of squirrels both greys and fox. Roads are excellent
