Stock stiffener

Has anybody tried to stiffen a Ruger American or Savage Axis II stock using the accugel glass bedding from Brownells?

I just did a Remington 783 using JB Weld and two carbon fiber arrow shafts. I cut the stock so the arrows would lay in the forearm and not go so far back as to interfere with the barrel nut. Worked really well for me, but it's still a junk stock.
