Sure, the wealthy have them, but then again, they can replace them every couple of years as the screens burn in, and the plasma gun starts to go out. As yet, it is not a reliable, long-term technology that the guys at Best Buy would lead everyone to believe.
An rack, don't knock on Beta too hard, until the last 5 years, BETA was the TV industry standard for video recording. Within the last 5 years, digital formats have taken over, but as late as 1999, 90% of TV stations were using BETA as their primary tape format. The quality of BETA was/is vastly superior to VHS!!!
