U of Alabama Asst. Dean 'resigns' after anti-American tweets discovered

What "sucks" is the fact that racist people, like this former dean, are promoted or hired into positions of responsibility in the first place. I recognize that the college/university system is rife with socialist minions of the globalist cabal, but even for the left, idiots need to useful to be used.

My question is how was someone who was making these posts on social media ever been afforded a position like this? Shouldn’t the said person be vetted prior to said appointment? And it’s pretty flabbergasting that no one knew of his blatant racism

What bothers me more is that you don't need to be intelligent to be the dean of a prominent university, apparently. Those tweets were just plain grounded in low IQ stupidity.

What an idiot! So called smart folks that don't seem to understand that what is put on the web and electronic services never goes away. He needs a one way ticket to Venezuela!

My guess is that they knew, but he was 'low-profile' enough they didn't think it would ever come up. Wasn't until it came up that it was a problem. Agree with your original sentiment, though, and those above.

We can thank the push for diversity over merit-based hiring for this, and many other ailments in the world of business, education, etc.

Imagine what they'd find if they dug deep enough into EVERY university administration or faculty member's social media. You'd see the indoctrination agenda in full swing.

The left media is melting down and calling conservatives "snowflakes" over this one.

These profs and other administrators are in embedded in our schools like a bad roach infestation.

The tweets were foolish. But I think such foolishness is covered by the concept of "Academic freedom" as it is usually understood to apply to faculty and administrators in higher education.

The precedent set here of removing employees for prior speech deemed to be insensitive will surely be used to remove 10 conservatives from similar positions for every liberal.

I'd prefer to see higher education moving back toward academic freedom and apply the concept equally to conservatives.

That would constitute the last 10 conservatives in higher education which is a contradiction in terms in itself.

Having been on the faculty of the Air Force Academy and Hillsdale, and having been at West Point when my wife served on the faculty there, I can assure you that there are still conservatives in higher education.

Not many, and most tend to keep their views much quieter on campus. When I was at the Air Force Academy, some students found some old pro-life social media posts of mine and worked pretty hard to get them considered as I was going through a promotion process.

I am torn on this. I think what’s good for the goose is good for the gander on one hand but on the other it’s a 1A issue.

I don’t feel bad for him though. You live in the land of freedom and opportunity. Heck, availed yourself of opportunity and turn around and crap on the country that makes it possible. Hard to feel sorry for ya bud.

I am very happy that my daughter chose to attend a local University for her undergrad Vs. one of the big communist organizations. She is surrounded by kids mostly from the northern Atlanta suburbs where most of the kids have conservative leaning parents. Sure there are some lefty's but the majority of the kids were raised conservative or libertarian. Furthermore, she will graduate with her undergrad degree basically debt free.

The only issue I have with her is that she ditched studying physics and now is studying to become a liar, cheat and thief.

As a current researcher for a major university (tier two) and the husband of an instructor/PhD candidate at another major university (tier one), I can also assure you there are more than 10 conservatives left in higher education. They are probably 10-15 percent of the total faculty and are typically clustered in the business, science, engineering and math departments although law seems to be holding onto a few as well (a smaller percentage in my observation).

We are much quieter than most because revealing a right leaning or centrist viewpoint invites a lot of backlash that we don't need.

I am too, I wish either side could say what they want. Yet since we have to play by the rules the Left put in place, they should too.

While I do agree that his 1A rights allow him to say whatever...his views obviously don’t jive with the majority of UAB students,parents/contributors to UAB..once they were exposed, and he had to go. I don’t think many there would want him continuing to play a part in their childrens education 🤷‍♀️. I personally wouldn’t give another nickel until they flushed that toilet...

I somewhat think he got this right about the American Flag in relation to racism in relation to slavery, share cropping, and even equality.

Some like to paint all of that as being just a part of the Confederate flag and not the nation as a whole. Everything concerning race relations was in place long before the Civil War and the so called actions of just the Southern states after the war.

This was part of his tweet;
“The [American] flag represents a systemic history of racism for my people. Police are a part of that system. Is it that hard to see the correlation?”

I don't agree with the police correlation though. He got that part wrong. I realize the flag part is another subject and he just used it to emphasize his police correlation error.

Geno67...you saying that only 10-15 % of the faculty is “conservative”..and has to keep your thoughts to yourself,or face backlash...is sickening to me. Couldn’t do it....

Bet she will be the best liar cheat and thief money can buy. Its sad that we have to have these type of folks in our lives but when I do I want the best one money can buy. Don't worry though MY X mother in law is one of those types and shes pretty ethical and beats people done the old fashioned way
