Unsustainable Population Growth

The majority of the problems facing humans today can be directly tied to the fact that there are too many babies being born to people that can't support them. The left seems to think the solution is for them to move to the west. The right seems to think that they should stay home and work to make their country progress. Neither is a viable solution.

Is there a workable solution ? You can't even say the word 'sterilization' without causing a huge outcry about 'civil rights' and 'freedom'. How can we save the planet from mankind ?

NO!

I agree that population IS the number one problem! Almost as big as total global population, is the extreme growth of people unable/unwilling to independently survive. With significantly improved medical intervention, millions of infants, children, youth and young adults who would have died from catastrophic disease or injury, are alive but totally dependent upon others. At the same time, billions of people who may (or may not) be able to support themselves are instead given the greater portion of their sustenance by various kinds of local, national, or international government aid.

The example of the USA is dramatic, but not unique. The US population is somewhere over 320,000,000, but apparently fewer than 60,000,000 have full time employment and only about another 3 million combine multiple part-time or occasional self-employed jobs to support themselves or their families. The reality is only about 35 million households are self supporting and represent less than 150 million people. The other 170,000,000 people depend upon public aid of some form. So the average US worker is supporting his own family of 3 or 4 people PLUS another three or four people in the US through taxes. It gets worse. Through our support of international aid, the UN, and direct payments to other nations, (more taxes) that worker is also suporting two to five people in other countries (depend on who is citing the numbers).

For thousands of years the world population grew very slowly as technology slowly improved. Most of that overall slow growth is really attributable extremely high death rates from disease and war. Previously, very small improvements in tech (like - a better plow) resulted in very significant population growth, but most of it was offset by increased deaths from common diseases and plagues, plus the starvation, brutality, and casualties of regular wars. Now modern medicine slows or even stops the deaths from the majority of diseases, has minimized the deaths from plagues, and even warfare kills far fewer than ever before.

In three or four generations, unless something happens to significantly reduce the population, the people of this planet will be so overcrowded that civilization will be stressed to the point of collapse! My guess is the collapse will involve a reduction in total population of about two thirds of the then existent population. While that may mitigate the social pressure of over-population, the concurrent tech and infrastructure losses will take survivors back several centuries in abilities. The dystopian future of "Mad Max" and similar scifi horror thrillers may not be as fictional as we would like!

I say bring back the plague and mass starvation. Wars will take care of themselves.

Birthrate among educated people has been steadily falling. Birthrate among uneducated has been steadily rising. Probably a demorat conspiracy.

That, a mini ice age from a strong solar minimum, a strong solar plasma ejection causing a mass EMP. A caldera the size of the one in Yellowstone erupting sending the earth into a drastically reduced temperature range. Or a combination of any of those would cause a Zombie Apocalypse and kill off 60% of the worlds population in the first three weeks of the catastrophe.

Mother Nature is a female dog when she wants to be. Don't make Mother Nature mad.
Even Zeus and Mr. Miyagi respect Mother Nature. When Mother Nature ain't happy, nobody is happy.

I am waiting on it happening. Soon

If it will just sustain it for impact.

Doesn’t help that government incentivizes people that can’t afford kids to have more of them.

Implementing carcinogens into the American diet coupled with standard cancer treatments has been knocking back the population for years. Among other central planners schemes.
