Water, water everywhere, and water melon rinds too!

With it hot and dry you can help out the critters by putting out water around your yard. Not just the standard bird baths, but shallow pans on the ground under shrubbery. The big dishes that go under large flower pots, either plastic or ceramic work well. Deeper pans like the plastic oil changing pans sold at auto stores and rubber horse feed pans are good for providing water for other critters. If you live where it's feasible. putting out water melon rinds near the edge of the woods can yield surprising results. Box turtles are drawn to them. Saw two this morning. One year during drought conditions I used my wife's pink fingernail polish and marked 16 different turtles! Fun for you and helping out the critters,
