What is considered hunting?

My question is if it is legal on a WMA to have a loaded weapon within 50 yards of a road. Is it considered hunting if I have my crossbow cocked without an arrow in it within 50 yards of my truck. In other words can I decock once I get to my truck which is parked just off of a useable road.

The rules state that a cocked crossbow is considered loaded. I thought that I had read somewhere that if you had a loaded weapon that it was assumed that you are hunting. I could be wrong about this.

Answers anyone?

From the attachment in your above post - I can see where it’s misleading. On the other hand, be hard for the GW to prove I was hunting if my gun was unloaded…….then again, I’m a lawful weapons carrier.

I’d play it safe and unload everything except my pistol - my opinion.

When they check you comin back to the truck they always ask if your gun is loaded. If you say yes then they will say its supposed to be unloaded at the 50 yard mark. Loaded gun = hunting to the DNR. Carry weapon aside.
