Who caught who????

I was digging up some volunteer saw tooth oaks this afternoon to pot when something caught my eye flopping around in a pine top. It was a hawk, but I couldn't see its head. I watched it for a second then took my shovel and sort of rolled it over. Well, he had caught a snake, but the snake was getting the best of him!! It had wrapped around the hawks neck and probably would have killed it. I poked the snake a couple time with the shovel and he released and eased off. The hawk didn't even thank me when he flew off!!! Mother nature never ceases to amaze me.

looked like a black racer to me. didn't see the king snake stripes. He had that hawk around the neck.

Pretty cool. A member of our club came across a barred owl that was wrapped up by a rat snake. He got the snake off of it and the owl just stood there for awhile.
