Who Runs This Country?

The Senate voted against its own power to declare war. The stated reason is they don't have the votes to reauthorize all of our 7+ current foreign conflicts.

Previously, all but one member of the House appropriations committee voted to repeal the AUMF under which all current wars are authorized but Paul Ryan and the leadership prevented a full House vote.

President Trump campaigned as a relative non-interventionist (a position he's held since long before entering politics) but quietly changed his tune after taking office.

President Obama was elected, in large part, because the citizenry opposed our foreign conflicts yet proceeded to enter/start several new ones.

President Bush got Congress to cede its constitutional responsibility for declaring war back in 2001 and apparently that is now permanent.

To sum it all up, the public doesn't support all our wars, Congress says it doesn't have the votes to re-authorize them and we've now elected two presidents who campaigned on pulling back and then flip-flopped on taking office.

So who calls the shots? The State Department, the Department of Defense, the "intelligence community", the "Military Industrial Complex" that Eisenhower warned us about, one or more foreign powers?

We have lost this country. I don't think we will be getting it back.

For the last decade or so, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has been running the country.

Big money. Real big money. The kind of money you can't even imagine. It's so much money it can't even be counted. The people who have it don't care that it can't be counted because they have so much of it.
