Why saved?

Why must a person be saved and from what are they saved? This is a most important question because it deals with eternity. The Word of God says in the book of Hebrews 9:27, "And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement."
Most people live for today and never think of tomorrow. But the fact is that one day the tomorrow they disregard comes to an end and they are swept away into eternity. The Word of God speaks of that day in Acts 24:15, the day of the resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. And in Romans 2:16, the Apostle Paul warned about "the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."
Do you know that if you die without Christ as your Lord and Saviour you will retain your sins and without a Saviour you will face judgement one day. In Revelations 20:11-15, the Word of God speaks of the Great White Throne judgement where the dead small and great will stand before God and will be judged according to their works. "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." The book of life is the Lamb's (Jesus Christ) book of life and the people whose names are written in it belong to him. The Apostle John wrote in 1 John 5:12, "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
It is written in Proverbs 15:3 that there is nothing hid from God, for the eyes of the Lord are in everyplace beholding the evil and the good. Every thought, every deed, every imagination of the heart will be revealed in that day and there will be no place to hide. Those who have rejected Christ have rejected God and they will be found guilty. No amount of religious works will save you, and there will be no reprieve.
So what must a person do to be saved? In 1st Thessalonians 1:10, the Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians to wait for God's Son Jesus Christ from Heaven, whom he raised from the dead, which also delivered us from the wrath to come. God's wrath is coming one day but those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ according to Paul's gospel will not face this wrath.
The gospel that must be believed to be saved, which was confirmed by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:3,4 is that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. He paid the full price for our sins and was buried and rose from the dead on the third day. In Romans 4:25, the Apostle confirms that Jesus Christ was delivered for our offences and raised from the dead for our justification. In other words, his death is the payment for our sins and his resurrection is the goods receipt that our sin debt has been fully paid. In John 3:36 it says: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." So the answer to be being saved is no longer the sin question but the Son question. Is Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour? He can be by simple faith in him. By believing that he died in your place for your sins and is raised from the dead for your justification. As the Apostle Paul states in Romans 4:5 "To him that worketh not but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." God justifies the ungodly by faith in the finished work of his Son. And in Acts 13:38,39 Paul preached "Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethern, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
In Romans 3:23 the Apostle Paul confirms that we are all sinners and writes "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God" but in 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11 we learn of this justification of sinners. Paul writes: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of God. AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU: but ye are washed, ye are santified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. In Ephesians 1:13 Paul wrote to believers in Christ " In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the gospel (GOOD NEWS) of your salvation: In whom also after that you believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and what he did for you and you will be saved from the wrath of God to come. It's all of Faith and nothing more. As the Apostle writes in Ephesians 2:8, "For by Grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: It is the Gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast" God did it all for us, all we do is accept it by faith. And after you have placed your faith in Christ and his finished work of love for you, do as the Apostle Paul ask of us in Ephesians 4:1 "I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called." We have been given positions in Christ, members of his body, bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh(Ephesians 5:30), joint-heirs and accepted in him, the righeousness of God. As the Sons of God let us walk the walk and talk the talk and not be conformed to this present evil world.
