Went up to the creek Saturday evening and she has always used a small 3 foot rod with a closed face on it. Hers messed up and she started using my spinning rod while I fished (practiced) with the fly rod. Had several trout come up and hit at my dry fly but never a hook up. I could tell she was getting frustrated. I had her come over to me and I showed her I guess it is called a roll cast. She picked it up real quick. The rest of the evening I was stuck with the spinning reel. She never caught a fish but the main thing is she had fun and now on to us both learning the next step of catching more often. Hope to get her to a pond soon for some bream and get her hooked. Plan is she will want more of it so I can give her mine then go buy me a better one ;-)
