I am 72 years old, a disabled vet, and recently fell and broke my arm. I need someone to help with general yard and other duties.
My question is: If I hire someone; Mexican, white guy, black, whomever, and they get hurt on my property, what is my liability.
I have homeowners with $5,000 medical limit and a 3 million dollar umbrella. By getting someone to help me, I do not want to
set myself up for a lawsuit. Or, would it be better to get someone that is already working under a contractor and they are already
covered by Workers Comp from that contracting firm? I have several friends that hire on Mexican seasonal workers that do work
on the side from their seasonal duties and they do a good job. Maybe I am being overly cautious, but we do live in a society that is
quick to sue and quick to want a free ride. Any advice will be appreciated.....
