Listening to "The Lone Ranger " on the radio, and the Grand Ol Opry
My grandpa had one of those old wooden AM radios, and we would get together and listen to the Grand ol’ Opry every week.

Sears catalog was like Amazon.
Party lines.
Saturday morning cartoons
Picture rolling on the tv
Square tin lunchboxes
Tresspassing wasnt a thing
Going out hunting, not for any particular animal, just whatever you saw
Slop bucket in the kitchen
Planting by the signs
Every yard had a chicken house, smokehouse, and an outhouse

My granny would tell us the slop man would get all our toys if we left them in the yard. It got us to pick them all up every afternoon! We were scared to death of him. we'd run and hide when he came to pick up the slop.

I had to carry ours to the top of the hill and pour it in the hog trough.

gatorade in a glass jar
Fried chicken liver served regular
All men smoked or chewed plug tobacco
No bicyclers in tight rainbow suits
Men didn’t wear backwards hats
You could actually keep up with nascar
Dirt track racing wasn’t for the rich

My baseball coach would make a pitching change with a cigarette in his mouth.

We still have a slop bucket in the kitchen

Some things, I refuse to change

The TV aerial was on top of the mountain. You strung nail to tree two strand wire from the aerial to the back of the B&W TV.

We didn't have a hog but our slop bucket was hung on a tree for the slop man. I personally never took a lunch to school. The old TV problems I remember, the rolling, the snow, etc., the antenna. Also the only thing past midnight was the test pattern. I remember the sign off with the national anthem and the Air Force Jets.

My Grandmother had a chicken house, smokehouse, and an outhouse. We never did.
I remember digging a hole at the edge of the yard to bury trash in.

I don't remember private property either. We just went out in the woods to cut firewood, cut a Christmas tree, to camp or hunt. Even on farms for quail. You just stopped and let your dogs out.

We too, just went hunting or fishing. Meals may consist of a rabbit, a squirrel, and two yeller hammers. A fish fry was the same.

I don't remember pizza, Chinese food, Mexican food, or Italian food. Other than Mom's spaghetti or chili.

I remember all us kids piling in the back of Papa Butler's station wagon headed on vacation. Never even thought of a seat belt.

Cropping tobacco for $6 a day, taking it off the stick for 1 cent and 1/2 a stick. buying bb shot for 10 cent a tube, 12 gauge #8 shot for a nickle a shell, nickle for a 6 oz Coke, not having to cut grass because Mama kept a swept yard. Looking forward to squirrel season and fall turkey season because there was no such thing as deer season.

If you had the skills to rebuild your gocart Briggs 3.5 after school because your dad let you a ring kit and bore tool at 10 years old, you're probably an old man today.
