Garand thieves

If people didn't pay those ridiculous prices then the market for buying to sell at a profit would disappear, its the people that are either too lazy to acquire one for themselves, or stupid enough to pay those prices that are to blame, same thing with ammo prices over the last year or more, people either too complacent to have stocked up over the years, or stupid enough to pay inflated prices.

there will always be people ready to profit from others stupidity or laziness

I have developed an anecdotal finding over my lifetime. “30+% of people are born stupid. Then never recover”.

Wish I could get my hands on a Garand. My Springfield M1A Loaded is nice but it ain't a Garand.

That M1A is one heck of a rifle but the Garand just gives you a "feeling" with all that history behind it.

there's nothing else like that ping.

You know you can still buy 8 a year, try to make one "correct," sell 7, and really PO the OP. I agree with him, but the CMP didn't accumulate $350 mil overpricing guns we(or our parents and grandparents) already paid for. I would be for some kind of CMP sanctions on resellers. Our ATF friends would probably have something to say about selling more than 2 a year if they knew. Of course they'd have to shoot your dog.

These are advertised around $2K on sites like Cabelas Used guns. Cabelas does do 10% vet discount with quick verification online, I think.

The CMP store has been closed since April, to "catch up," but if you drive another 20 minutes to the CMP Talladega range, the store there has had rifles lately, and they're 7% tax instead of the 10% in the Anniston store.

This link has gone cold since the store closed, but you can get info from the CMP Forums here.

PH68 was doing 2x daily reports on inventory when the store was open, and he visits TMP occasionally. The PH (purple heart) reminds us that he gave blood in 1968, wearing the same clothes as middle Avatar guy.

If you go allow a coupla hours for the range. Its maybe $20 to shoot. You have to start on the 100yd range before they let you shoot at their 200-600yd electronic targets

Ditto. My Ruger mini's are about as close as I'll get to either at this point in my life but I'm ok with that. I've only got so many years left, not going to spend it wishing it away.

When I get to Heaven I hope they have lots of Garands for cheap.:bounce:
