Huge property tax increase

Well after fighting a war that had quite a bit to do with taxes, they finally realized that maybe the English monarchy was on to something after all.

Governments have always been first in line to take what was never theirs.

That said, taxes, used wisely, provide quite a few benefits.

Here in Chatham, I’m just not sure what those benefits are.
There in lies the rub. When one can see the benefit there’s little pushback. With the waste we have now it’s a bitter pill to swallow. We are grossly over taxed.

I vote no on every tax increase...of any kind...and always will.

Without SPLOST your taxes have to fund everything. Counties with lots of shoppers coming from other counties can get their pennies too.

And the politicians don’t have to vote to increase taxes! At least that’s what a former Cherokee county commissioner told me

My property taxes have went up a minimal amount over last 6-8 yrs i credit the esplost for alot of it, but im sure not all agree. It gets the visitors, renters, and the projects.

Part of me has to wonder why they need even more money? I mean just cuz values go up why does that mean a greater need at the county service level? Do you use more services because your home increases in value? Naw suh! They have convinced the American people that without taxes it all falls apart into anarchy. That simply isnt true. Just means they have to ask not take.

Same thing happens with businesses and insurance companies.
The better the year the higher workman's comp goes.

Heard on WSB Radio today that Fulton has approved a hike in storm water sewer.

Going from 40 something to 90 something immediately and then to $120.00 next year.

Hogwash. That is the easy way out. They waste so much now that it should be easy to cut some waste and use that money for needed repairs like you listed.

I will never vote for an additional tax on myself. Never.

You just dont get it. The only way the taxes can work is by adding more taxes. That way they have enough money to fund a way to research how to add yet even more taxes. Then stuff can happen. Maybe.

Because locals can't hardly afford to live here any more. If somebody left me a hundred acres, I honestly couldn't afford the taxes, and would have no choice but to sell some of it off. And, they destroy the land forever. If you don't get it, then you just don't, and live in a different, shinier world than me. Maybe you are one of them.
If you mean by “one of them” that I’m a yankee then you couldn’t be further from the truth. Not a yankee bone in my body. If you mean “one of them” being somebody not looking to blame everybody but the ones who are the sell outs then yep, that’s me. Makes no sense to me.

TSPLOST is a shell game designed to make the masses think somebody else is paying but not them, other words a scam for the fools. Property values have not gone up, the value of your money has gone down.
Yep, and the county uses the inflated prices to justify greed. Tell me why I’m pay school taxes without a child in school for decades.

It's insane how many of those massive precast warehouse buildings are going up in the Oakwood/Flowery Branch area right now. The apartments and neighborhoods to house the workers are going in just as fast. Won't be long and Hall will be just like Gwinnett
