JL Lester quail hunt

Hey guys, so I got drawn for the 1st quail hunt on Jan 5th at JL Lester. Issue is, I have no dogs. I've been quail hunting before, but always with a guide and dogs. Anybody got some advice for my first time solo?

I'm guessing the hard core bird hunters just love it when guys with no dogs and are just kinda into it apply for draws.

JL Lester may be a little thin on birds. Ran a few field trials there and have not had much luck with any wild birds. Be careful with some of the neighbors adjoining the property, there was reports of one of them shooting at dogs that got off the grounds.

I agree prob. on bird numbers and expectations. I would not expect a 10 covey day lol. Some of the habitat looks pretty birdy but has been several yrs. since I have been thru there. I don't know if they do any prescribed burns or active management spec. for birds or small game. Def. can't compare to DiLane.

Surely there is no one in Antioch stupid enough to shoot your bird dog.
