1.2 miles of the cheapest fence???

Thinking t post and barb wire. No livestock. Just want to keep most people from walking in from the road. Cattle wire and wood fencing add up fast! 1.2 miles to fence. What's the best option? Considering barbless wire down low with 24" clearance for fawns. Barbed wire on top. Not too high so deer can jump it.

Seems like a lot of work and money for nothing to me.
Just put up posted signs.

People can climb fences and most of those don’t know how to read so posted signs work no better on them than it does on dogs.
Prosecute those you catch on your property and word gets out quick not to trespass on old Bobs place.

This is the answer. Also sign and file a landowner's affidavit that anyone caught trespassing without permission will be prosecuted.

The t post and barbed wire would be cheapest. You can double you post spacing if you use stays in between.
Clearing the fence run is sometimes the hardest and the most important step. Otherwise it’ll overgrow and become useless quick.

True. Good area for road hunters. Trying to just add a little slow down making the drag not worth it.

Great info. Hoping to spray the fence line every few years. Hoping it won't alter deer traffic.

Will do. Posted signs are a given. Stands are on the property lines and the area has really been left for others to use at will. Going to take a minute to claim it and deal with stands.

T post and 3 strands of barb wire, use insulators on post and make top and middle wires hot. Young deer can still get under bottom wire and not get popped. Humans will see insulators on all three strands and assume all are hot. Use strongest charger available.

After you file, get with the local DNR ranger and Sheriff and provide them with copy. You'll get a much better response cause they'll know it will hold up in court and they won't be wasting their time with arrests. Make sure you give WRITTEN permission to those you allow and instruct them to have that permission with them.

They get one freebie when caught due to claim of ignorance. The second time is when they learn a lesson.

I like Alabama's law....unless they have changed it in the last 20 years. ALL land is posted by law. So you never have the excuse "I didn't know it was private property".

It was not incumbent on the land owner to prove trespass, rather it was the responsibility of the trespasser to prove he had permission.

Made fencing immaterial.

Georgia is the same way. Dealt with a lot of criminal trespass cases when in L.E. You on someone's land without permission, judge would always issue a warrant if land owner wanted to prosecute.
