We need details.
in tall grass, I saw a head down deer moving thru grass. I could only see his back and it looked big. I knew I only had a small opening before he would be in the thick. he was on my weak hand side, so I quickly shifted to a shooting position, his head was still down so I quickly moved my rifle too. As soon as I did, I saw an additional two heads pop up. Now all Three does looking straight at me. The damage was done. In my haste I got busted.
in hind sight, if it had of been a buck, he would have likely been alone, and with time vs space of the opening and the rate of movement It made sense to move so fast. I am only hunting for a buck, so maybe, a moving buck with his head down would have been an effective move... I didn’t know I was dealing with three sets of eyes. The deer were at about 125 yards, so I need to be braced for a shot And I feel a little better about the bust. Hunting. A great morning to be in the woods.
