When we get new hens I put them in the henhouse through the back door and let them work their way out the front and into the yard where the old residents are during the day. There`s still some scrapping going on but not quite so bad.
They are all ready adjusting. The first few minutes was a bit intense and loud.i enjoy having the chickens around . Lot of work but i like keeping them.
I was going to ask if anyone had methods of introducing the new hens to the flock but, this was a last minute addition. There is a family farm about 30 minutes from me that raises laying hens. I know this time of year they usually have a bout 3,000 birds ready to deliver. I just called last night, and luckily the had two for me. By 9am I was picking them up. Quite an operation that they run.?
