2nd year trees

This is the second year on these trees. There are 5 chestnuts this year out of my trees and this year the sawtooth a and persimmons (both the early drop and late drop) all from chestnut hills nursery really took off with growth. Can’t wait til the persimmons start making. Hopefully in the next couple of years.
Planted a bunch of crab apples, more dunstans, and gobbler sawtooths last year and already cleaned up to plant some swamp chestnut oaks, persimmon, and more dunstans this year. It’s definitely an addiction.

They were at the top of the tubes when I planted them. I fertilized them this year in there second year.

I guess the abundant rain this summer has really hooked those trees up. That's some very impressive growth in only the second year.

Same experience on my tract in Johnson Co. this year with tree growth - definitely the wet summer that accelerated the growth

First dunstans starting to drop. Picked up a couple to take home.

This really gives me something to look forward to. This was my second year for Three Dunstan Chestnuts and 10 Persimmons. All from Chestnut Hill. They are doing great and have really grown, hoping for some fruit within the next few years.

You definitely caught the tree bug. Lol nothing wrong with that. I've caught it before myself. Really good stuff watching them grow and knowing deer will be feeding underneath them soon enough. Keep up the good work brother ?

Yea I can’t wait til I have everything rolling. Crabapples, persimmons both early and late drop, gobbler sawtooths, regular sawtooths, and a pile of dunstans. Plus perennial clover I’m addicted lol. Trying to make a deer utopia for my kids.

When this rain gets out I’ll go get some more pics. The sawtooths in this thread are huge now and the same one I put the pics of in the other thread with the catkins. A few of my persimmons have made, all of my chestnuts are making. None of my crabapples have made yet but hopping they do this year.

Looks great. I just ordered 100 chestnuts. Dunsta n . This gives me inspiration. I'm gonna cover 3 acres. Going to lay them out next week. Going to dig all the holes and then get them to go ahead and send them on out. Hope mine do as good as yours
