Accomplished a bucket list: mule deer on public with a bow S&S

This was my second trip and my first mule deer. I set my goals pretty simple. Being unguided on public land with a bow all I cared about was a legal deer. In Utah thats any antlered buck in this particular unit. Shot was 57 yards and he went about 20. Entered right behind the shoulder and exited dead center of the opposite shoulder. Arrow traveled another 10 yards and stuck in a log. 632 grain total arrow weight. Black Eagle Spartan 250's, 28" cut to cut, 30 grain stainless insert + 75 grain brass weight + 50 grain brass weight + 125 Grim Reaper Pro Series 3 blade 1 3/8", 7" wrap and 3 x 4" Fusion X2 vanes. Next trip I will be looking at a nice buck but I am as proud of this deer as anything I have ever shot.

Awesome, I’ve heard Utah is a pretty tough state to get a tag for. How was the tag acquisition process? I know you may not wish to share the finances Of the trip but it’s been on my own bucket list for sometime. Like you, I want to do it on my own. It’s amazing to me that some of these western states have millions upon millions of acres of public land accessible to hunters. Anyways good job, and congrats.
