Iv found two dead deer on my land over the past three weeks. One was already picked clean so I grabbed the jawbone for fun. What’s your guess. I have no idea.

4.5, and possibly 5.5. Can’t see how wide the dentine is on tooth 6.

This is a pic I took of a display at Charlie Elliott.
Hope this helps.

That chart is horribly inaccurate for my area. If you kill one with teeth as bad as that 6.5 around here he’s probably 10 plus. Our 5.5’s could easily be classified as 2.5 or 3.5 regularly. That’s with known bucks.

I was thinking an older deer. I know teeth wear differently depending on location. I had a biologist age 2 different jawbones last year for me that were mostly likely 2.5 and 3.5 based on knowledge of the deer. Both deer had very light wear on their teeth and his comment was that those deer had very little wear compared to 3.5 yo in other parts of GA. With that said, this jawbone (to me) looks significantly older. It was a doe that I found in an overgrown field that died maybe 3 weeks ago.
