Any opinions...on proportional vs time delay brake controller

I use the old fashioned time delay brake controller. I have a 16' tandem axle enclosed trailer with electric brakes on one axle. I have one in both vehicles that I have used to tow the trailer.
I use the Reese Pod, because of size and that it mounts in any direction.

When perusing the camper/rv forums, most always, folks sing the praises of the proportional, especially the Tenkonsha Prodigy line. It has to be mounted within a certain angle of horizon, calibrated, then brake power set. You get the advantage of the controller's internal "pendulum" reaction to braking conditions of the tow vehicle. Kinda pricey however...
